Porsche Champagne Tour
21st – 25th April 2022
Thursday 21st April
Meet your fellow tour participants at the Eurotunnel port in Folkestone. You will cross on the 10.50 train. Once on the continent we’ll join the autoroute for some swift progress as far as Laon. There is time to take a drive up into the remparts of Laon, if you wish. From here you will take to the d-roads into the heart of Champagne country.
Home for the next four nights is the five star Relais et Chateau Hostellerie la Briqueterie. Situated a short distance from Epernay, this luxury hotel is the perfect base to explore the region. This evening dinner will be taken together in the hotels restaurant.
Friday 22nd April
After a relaxed breakfast it’s time to ready yourselves and your cars for the days road run out into the Champagne region. The first port of call today is a coffee stop at the ruins of Chateau de Fere, there is time to explore before we head to the second chateau of the day, a private property that will welcome the group with parking in front of the chateau. There will then be a guided visit and light lunch.
After lunch your afternoon is free to enjoy as you wish, maybe to visit one of your favourite Champagne houses. Or simply return to the hotel to relax in their Spa or enjoy the tranquillity of their rose garden. This evening is at leisure to enjoy as you wish.
Saturday 23rd April
Follow the carefully devised routes across to the historic circuit de Gueux, where the Reims Grand Prix were held. You can park up here and take that all important photo of your car in front of the iconic pit buildings. You can then take a lap of the circuit on the public roads, tracing the lap as drivers such as Stirling Moss would have in the 1950’s.
It is then a tour along the Aisne Marne border to an independent smaller Champagne producer, which also houses and interesting museum. Here you will have a visit and tasting, with a light lunch. You will then have a short run back to the hotel and time to relax. At the end of the afternoon a bus will collect you from the hotel for the short drive into Epernay. We will visit a Champagne house on the Avenue de Champagne for a visit, tasting and special dinner in their Champagne cellars. The coach will return you to La Briqueterie at the end of the evening.
Sunday 24th April
You have a day to enjoy as you with wish with suggestions of visits to enjoy at your own pace. Such as the Chemin des Dames for some sobering WW1 history. Or la Familistiere, a palace built by Industrialist ‘Godin’ for his workers, now a museum. Alternatively take a drive out into the countryside or simply stock up on some local delicacies. This evening dinner is included for the group at the hotel.
Monday 25th April
Return to Eurotunnel.
