TR Register Ireland Tour
County Antrim
12th – 17th June 2022

To drive along the Causeway Coastal Route is to experience one of the most dramatic roads in the world. The coastline is sprinkled with historic castles set amongst rugged cliffs and unspoilt beaches. The neighbouring Glens of Antrim, provide an oasis of calm, where ancient woodlands border green hills and valleys, creating a mythical backdrop to this essential Irish journey. We will be exploring all of this from our luxurious inland retreat; the award-winning Galgorm Spa & Golf Resort, allowing you to relax in the evenings after great day touring in your Triumph.

Suggested Itinerary:

Sunday 12th June
Depart on the morning sailing from Holyhead for Dublin (routes from Cairnryan to Belfast & Liverpool to Belfast are also available). After arriving in Dublin, we drive north up the coast to Ballymena in County Antrim. After checking in at the Galgorm Spa and Golf Resort, you are invited to join an informal drinks reception and welcome barbecue in the hotel’s Mulberry Garden. (Approximate driving distance: 130 miles)

Monday 13th June
The first of our circular road runs takes us to Bushmills, where you will be able to tour the oldest working distillery in Ireland (guided tour included). It has been producing whiskey for more than 400 years. From Bushmills it is a short hop to the iconic rock formations at Giant’s Causeway. The new visitor centre offers a great introduction before you walk down to the water’s edge and witness the basalt columns first hand. Our drive then continues to Portrush and Portstewart where it is possible to drive your car on to the beach for a sunbathe (weather permitting). Our route back passes Mussenden temple and Magilligan strand before turning inland past the picturesque Roe Valley Country Park back to our hotel. In the evening a 3-course evening meal will be hosted in the hotel’s Grill restaurant. (Approximate driving distance: 87 miles)

Tuesday 14th June
Heading back to the coast, today’s drive takes us past Dark Hedges; an avenue of entwined beech trees, planted in the eighteenth century. The trees now form the backdrop for TV shows and films such as Game of Thrones. Once we reach the coast, our first port of call will be the Carrick-a-Rede rope bridge that stretches over a 24m deep chasm to a salmon fishery on a rocky island. From here we continue clockwise around the coast, past Torr head, with views across to Scotland, to the small fishing village of Cushendun. Neighbouring Cushendall is the gateway to the Glens of Antrim and we head up in to the hills via Glenariff Forest Park and back to our hotel. Tonight’s 3-course evening meal will be hosted in the hotel’s Italian restaurant. (Approximate driving distance: 77 miles)

Wednesday 15th June
Today can be a day to rest and enjoy the exceptional hotel facilities. Perhaps take a walk by the river or indulge in the hotel’s award-winning spa facilities. Alternatively, for those wishing to take a further drive there are the options to visit the famous Titanic quarter and heritage site at the Belfast docks, or explore the 17th century city walls of Derry/Londonderry. For this evening there will be an option to join other members in dining locally if you choose.

Thursday 16th June
Our third road run takes us to Carrickfergus. The castle dominates the skyline here, and dating back to 1178 it dominates much of local history too. From the castle we continue around the coast in an anticlockwise direction, beyond Larne, along the coast road to Ballygally and then to Glenarm Castle, where it is possible to visit the walled garden before returning back to the hotel via the beach at Carnlough. A private suite at the hotel has been reserved for tonight’s final 3-course group dinner. (Approximate driving distance: 75 miles)

Friday 17th June
Our tour comes to an end. After breakfast, we return to our ferries. Those returning via Scotland can return to Belfast for the morning crossing, whilst those heading South can return to Dublin for the afternoon crossing (Approximate driving distance: 130 miles)
