The FIA World Endurance Championship (FIA WEC) is a collaboration between the FIA and the ACO, the body responsible for running the Le mans 24 Hours and for putting together the rules and regulations that have governed Endurance racing worldwide for decades. Born from the successes of the Intercontinental Le Mans Cup, the FIA WEC has provided a platform for major manufacturers to go endurance racing around the world since 2012. It features a grid of prototypes and GT cars run by factory and private teams alike and features the Le Mans 24 Hours as a point-scoring round each season.
The FIA WEC 2021 season will feature the new Le Mans Hypercar class that will see Toyota, ByKolles, Alpine & Glickenhaus do battle at the front end of the field. The calendar has also shifted from a winter-based calendar back to a more traditional calendar-year schedule.
